It’s seldom that Dhruv Gurwara, a national-level tennis player, loses his focus during a game. But of late, he seems more abstracted than usual. The 17th edition of Bridal Asia will be rolled out in a few days, and Dhruv, who started assisting his mother Divya Gurwara last year, finds himself painfully engrossed in the workings of the exhibition. “The game will improve only after the task at hand, which is to make the show a success,” he says.

The kiosks will be full of wedding paraphernalia—béspoke gifts, jewelled clutches, Pashmina shawls, jewellery, clothes, lingerie sleep wear and more. Fashion titans such as Tarun Tahiliani,  JJ Valaya, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Manish Arora, Vikram Phadnis, Rohit Bal and many other from the league will present their latest. “I have to admit that even though the biggies always attract more attention, I am personally really looking forward to the participation of young talent like Arpita Mehta, Anushka Khanna, Vani Vats and Pranthi Reddy,” says Divya, whose ambition to make Bridal Asia a pan India event has begun to take shape. The idea was to take it to Mumbai, and they did in April this year. The other target was to take it to Kolkata, which will be aimed for next year. “Having ensured our presence in these three metros, going abroad becomes a natural progression for us. UAE, UK and Singapore are important destinations and research is underway. We hope to see your there soon,” says Dhruv promisingly.
