NEW DELHI: A pending amount of Rs 1.75 crore is owed by Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) towards salaries of over 200 security guards employed at the hospital over the last two years.
According to a report of a Parliamentary Committee of the ministries of Health and Labour, LHMC has pending bills for a period of 15 months towards Vigilant Security, Placement and Detective Services private Limited.
In June 2014 the firm providing security at the medical college said livelihood of employees and their families is at the stake to the Ministry of Labour Welfare along with ministry of Health and Family Welfare has set up committee to look into the matter of non-payment fo salaries headed by Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
The committee also found out that the post of Deputy Labour Welfare Commissioner, who looks into the matter like payment of wages, EPF, ESI among others, is vacant at LHMC since December 2014. The firm has been making repeated requests to the hospital authorities for payment of their salaries but to no avail.
