KOLKATA:  Singing the national anthem is a crime in a Kolkata madrasa, and woe betides any nationalist teacher who encourages students to sing ‘Jana Gana Mana’. Since a year, Kazi Masum Akhtar, the headmaster of Talpukur Aara High Madrasa in the heart of the city, has been banned from its precincts.
