NEW DELHI:  The Congress is also questioning the AAP government over pollution data. It alleges the AAP is fooling Delhi’s residents.

“Any move to curtail pollution is welcome but not at public inconvenience. Shockingly, Arvind Kejriwal is saying that pollution levels have gone down but official figures state that they remain the same. Has Kejriwalji purchased a new machine which gives his choice of pollution figures?” said former Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf.

He said that the AAP government took the decision in haste without even talking to stakeholders and pushed it through to get political mileage without thinking of the problems faced by Delhi’s people.

Assessing the impact of the week-long drive, Transport Minister Gopal Rai said, “We will assess the impact after January 15 and based on that we will take a final call. The good part is that it has received overwhelming response and people have supported it.”

Both the BJP and Congress are worried that the traffic formula will strengthen AAP which is taking on both parties on issues like alleged irregularities in the city’s cricket association DDCA, Robert Vadra’s land deals, the misuse of CBI and interference in the appointment of bureaucrats in Delhi, among others.

Meanwhile, Delhi waits with bated breath to see AAP’s future course of action after January 15.
