BALASORE (ODISHA): Despite diplomatic pressures, India is all set to test-fire its longest-range secret undersea missile, code-named K-4, capable of delivering nuclear warhead at 3,500 km away and the most potent surface-to-surface Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Agni-V, which can target all of Asia and parts of Africa and Europe.
While the K-4 test is planned to be conducted from a submerged platform in the Bay of Bengal next week, the canisterised version of Agni-V is likely to roar into the sky on March 15. Developed indigenously, both the missiles are ready for launch. The only thing left is the weapons systems to be integrated with the specially designed launchers.
Defence sources confirmed that preparation was on in full swing in the deep sea for the test of the submarine launch ballistic missile (SLBM) K-4. “The launch window for the test we are given is March 7 to 8. If everything goes well, the weapon system, which has caught the attention of enemy nations, will be tested as per the schedule,” the sources said.
