Bus overturns, narrow escape for passengers

Passengers aboard a private travels bus had a narrow escape as the bus turned turtle near Gudivada during wee hours on Sunday.

VIJAYAWADA: Passengers aboard a private travels bus had a narrow escape as the bus turned turtle near Gudivada during wee hours on Sunday.

Five passengers suffered minor injuries and were rushed to a private hospital where they were given first aid. The bus belongs to Orange Travels, which is owned by Hyderabad businessman P Sunil Reddy.
According to the police, the incident happened around 3 am. The bus driver lost control of the bus and it hit a signboard at Vanapamula village of Pedaparupudi mandal. After the incident, driver Laxman and attender Srinu fled from the spot.

As many as 40 passengers were reportedly going to Narasapuram from Hyderabad when the accident happened. Passengers called the local police and the ambulance at 108 for help.

“The driver’s negligence is believed to be the reason behind the accident. A case was filed against the Orange travels’ management,” said Pedaparupudi police.
