Kickass torrents, a hugely popular pirate site which was shut down after its suspected boss Ukranian national Artem Vaulin was arrested on July 21, is back up again. Like the evil enterprise Hydra of Marvel comics, if you cut off one head, online pirate sites just sprout others — to the relief of those who support free sharing of content online, regardless of copyright.

Kickass Torrents is now online in the form of a cloned site, kat.com, and with improvements — now it has a mobile version too. In fact, there are multiple clones of the kickass torrent site, designed to beat the system that seeks to block free sharing of copyrighted content.

A statement by a representative of Kickass torrents, who opted to stay anonymous for obvious reasons, told The Verge that the clone sites have the complete torrent database of KAT, including the comments and user information intact.

The United States has filed criminal charges against Artem Vaulin, 30, Kickass Torrent's alleged chief, for illegally publishing over Rs 6,724 crore-worth music, movies and games.
