Astronaut Scott Kelly Set to Return After a Year of Breathtaking Photography

After nearly a year aboard the International Space Station (ISS) American astronaut Scott Kelly is due to return to Earth along with Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Korniyenko on March 2.

Kelly and Korniyenko are in the last hours of a historic one-year mission to study the effects of prolonged weightlessness on the human body.

When they touch down on Wednesday, they would have spent 340 days in space.

Kelly's mission is expected to yield data for an ambitious manned mission to Mars.

Scott's twin brother Mark Kelly is a former astonaut. Mark is part of a twin study medical experiment which will help scientists compare how prolonged time in space impacts the body. Mark serves as control for his genetic double, Scott.

Apart from performing space walks, carrying out maintenance duties and subjecting himself to scientific experiments, Scott Kelly spent his year in space taking fantastic pictures of the Earth with his Nikon D4, which he shares on his social media. He has more than 8 lakh followers on Twitter and Instagram.
