JERUSALEM: Special units of the Israeli police detained governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, in the town of Beit Hanina to the north of occupied Jerusalem.

"At least three police cars intercepted the car carrying the governor before nabbing him and leading him to an unknown destination", reports WAFA news agency.

Although no reason was given for the arrest. The Israeli army detained Palestinian intelligence chief, Colonel Jihad Faqeeh (50) on Saturday.

Col. Jihad al-Faqih was stopped while driving to his work at an Israeli military checkpoint in al-Judeira village in northwestern Jerusalem.
