Ford gears up for EcoSport launch

Ford Motor expects 70% of the growth to come from Asia Pacific during the next decade and much of that will be contributed by China and India, according to Joginder Singh, who will replace Michael Boneham as the president and MD of Ford India from next month. Speaking at a press conference here, Singh said, “We are on the verge of utilizing the plant potential in India and start innovating.”  The company plans to introduce eight new products by middle of this decade, with the mini-urban SUV “EcoSport” to be unveiled in 2013 being part of it. Singh said that he had invited Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to inaugurate the event. “She has accepted the invitation,” he said. The company would focus on EcoBoost technology that improves fuel economy by 20% and increases performance output with 15% lower cabon emissions. It also plans to increase the customer touch points to 250 this year and 500 by middle of this decade.
