NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will inaguarate the annual conference of the Chief Commissioners and Director Generals of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax on Monday.
The main focus during the two day annual conference would be the assessment of the department's performance in various spheres during the last financial year, challenges in achieving revenue targets set for indirect taxes by the government in the current financial year, an official statement said.
In this context, the discussions have been planned on various areas of revenue augmentation namely, revenue analysis, scrutiny of returns submitted by assessees, audit, enforcement measures, dispute resolution and recovery of tax arrears among others, it added.
One of the technical sessions will be addressed by former Planning Commission member Saumitra Chaudhuri. The valedictory address on August 12, 2014 will be made by Minister of State for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, the statement said.
