NEW DELHI: New Delhi, January 11 -- India’s low-cost carrier, GoAir on Wednesday said it has firmed up order for 72 Airbus A320neo aircraft (new age narrow bodied plane) after it signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Farnborough International Airshow last month, bringing its aircraft order size to 144 planes. ``After the agreement reached on December 30 2016, GoAir has doubled its order book for the aircraft type to 144. The A320neo provides the latest technical innovations and unbeatable economics. This new order will further strengthen our network by adding more domestic and international routes in the years to come,” said GoAir Managing Director & CEO, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer in a statement on Wednesday.

The airline took delivery of its first A320neo in June 2016 and now operates a fleet of 23 aircraft currently operates across 23 destinations in India with over 975 weekly flights and over 2,000 connections weekly. Wadia Group’s GoAir that launched its domestic operations in November 2005 has been desperately looking at expanding its operations to international market. GoAir was the first airline to use A320neo with 186 seats without compromising on passenger leg room and comfort, the airline said. The A320neo Family incorporates latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, which together deliver more than 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020 with further cabin innovations. The Airbus A320neo single aisle product line has a market share of over 60 percent globally.
