NEW DELHI: More than 48 lakh central government employees will see their salaries for July rise as the Ministry of Finance has notified the allowances under Seventh Central Pay Commission with 34 modifications. Around 14 lakh defence personnel and 34 lakh civilian employees will be receive their salaries with modified allowance rates.
The finance ministry has sent a note to all central ministries informing that the Union Cabinet has approved the recommendations of CPC on June 28, with 34 modifications that has paved way for release of the revised pay. The same has been published in gazette of India on Thursday.
“The ministries concerned have now been advised to issue their orders on allowances governed by them immediately so that the revised rates of allowances get reflected in the current month’s salary bills of the government employees,” said the finance ministry.
The seventh CPC projected an additional financial implication of Rs 29,300 crore on the exchequer. In its new form, however, the Pay Commission allowance will translate into additional burden of Rs 30,748 crore on the exchequer every year. The allowances have been rationalised and subsumed in newly proposed dress allowance to be paid annually in four slabs — Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 for various category of employees.
Further, the allowance granted to CRPF personnel deployed in naxal- hit areas will be governed by the risk and hardship matrix and the rates will go up to Rs 17,300-25,000 per month, from Rs 8,400-16,800.
Meanwhile, Fixed Medical Allowance for central government allowance has also been bumped up to Rs 1000 from Rs 500.
