The report further mentioned that about 3.7 billion Rs 2000 notes amounting to Rs 7.4 trillion have been printed, and that more than compensates for the 6.3 billion Rs 1000 notes that were withdrawn after PM Modi’s demonetisation move in November lats year, citing the same source.

Agenices have reported earlier that the Reserve Bank of India will be coming up with new notes of Rs. 200 in August.

The decision to introduce Rs. 200 notes was taken by the RBI with the consultation of Finance Ministry in March.

This exercise of printing Rs 200 denomination notes is being undertaken to further improve the currency situation in the country.
