SBI forms new unit to manage its real estate

The job of acquisition, construction and maintenance of owned and leased premises were looked after by 1,100 officials, including 200 technical officials.

MUMBAI:  Public-sector lender State Bank of India on Saturday announced the incorporation of SBI Infra Management Solutions Pvt (SBIIMS Pvt Ltd), a wholly owned subsidiary, that will manage its premises and estate related matters. 

According to the bank, the primary role of the new entity will be to handle transaction management, advisory services, project management, facility management and implementation of policies and initiatives. Its incorporation will also help in saving time of banks’ executives. 

The job of acquisition, construction and maintenance of owned and leased premises were looked after by 1,100 officials, including 200 technical officials.

“It made sense to create a separate entity employing much lesser number of employees... who will handle premises and estate related officials more effectively and efficiently,” Chairperson and Managing Director Arundhati Bhattacharya said.
