Somany Ceramics to add 80 stores by next year

HYDERABAD: Somany Ceramics, a major player in the Indian ceramics industry, plans to add 70-80 new stores over the next one year. It currently has 200 stores across the country.

The ceramics market in the country has been sluggish following the rollout of the goods and services tax and due to tepid demand from the real estate sector. “While the industry will see single-digit growth even in FY18, we will grow above industry rate this year. The sector will gradually adapt to GST and see increased demand from government projects,” said Sanjay Kalra, chief marketing officer, Somany Ceramics.

Somany launched its first Duragres Lounge in Hyderabad on Wednesday. It is planning to set up about 10 such outlets to cater to the high-end market over the next one year. The company is also focusing on reaching out to high-end consumers with specifically designed Duragres Lounge and Emporiums.
“As experiential marketing is popular, we are coming up with varied retail formats such as the Somany Design Studio, Duragres Lounge, Somany Exclusive Showrooms and others,” Kalra added.
