MUMBAI: More than a year after the controversial NSE co-location case came to light, SEBI, on Thursday, said it has initiated enforcement action against various entities.

The action is expected to be completed in the next few days. Likewise, SEBI, which received four reports on the WhatsApp leak issue, will also take action in the coming weeks.

“We have received the NSE investigation report in the co-location case and have initiated enforcement action,” said Ajay Tyagi, Chairman, SEBI. He, however, clarified that the investigation has nothing to do with NSE’s proposed initial public offer.

It may be noted that in March, SEBI had returned NSE’s consent application in the case due to the ongoing investigation.

Besides, the exchange’s Rs 10,000 crore IPO too was stuck due to the ongoing probe into the co-location case with the regulator issuing show-cause notices to several individuals, to NSE and some of the brokers to determine their alleged role in the lapses in high-frequency trading offered through the NSE’s co-location facility and if a select few had unfair access to NSE’s high-frequency trading systems.
