Now, keep your vacant sites clean

If the BBMP site owners fail to keep their vacant sites clean, it will get the sites cleaned and collect the amount spent on such work from the property owners.

According to a press release from the BBMP, the civic agency is taking such a step after it received complaints from people residing in and around vacant sites which were not kept clean. Parthenium, which grows on the vacant sites, leads to mosquito breeding. People are throwing garbage in such sites.

Cases will be registered under Section 333 (Removal of filth or noxious vegetation) and 335 (Fencing of buildings  or lands and pruning of hedges and trees) of Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act 1976 against those who do not comply with the BBMP’s directive.  “If they do not pay the cleaning amount, the BBMP will levy thrice the amount,” the release said.
