Avalu Mattobbalu, a book authored by Rashmi Kasaragodu was released on December 9 at Kannada Sahitya Parishath. The book portrays women who have rendered selfless service in their respective fields. The book is the compilation of 35 inspiring articles which Rashmi penned down for a vernacular daily.
Sandalwood actress Neetoo, senior journalist Jogi, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pundaleeka Halambi, writer and actress Jayalakshmi Patil were present at the event.
While giving a brief introduction about the book, Jayalakshmi Patil said, "This book describes the plight of women who struggled hard to achieve their goals in life. The incidents and the experiences of the women who are depicted in this book are truly inspiring."
She added, "As we accept the gender roles, we also accept the do's and don'ts that the society imposes on us very casually. How these women have broken the barriers to give something back to the society and also to attain happiness is well portrayed in the book."
Speaking about her experiences and the hardships she faced while compiling the stories, Rashmi said that it was through a blog she approached these women achievers at the initial stage. Sharing her experiences she said, "When I was asked to write for a column in a vernacular daily, I was overwhelmed and undertook the project with enthusiasm. Initially it was difficult to find the characters that I could feature. But eventually things fell in place. They narrated their stories teary eyed and recalled their hardships faced in their life. Today, they stand as inspiration to many young women in the society," she concluded.
