One-man commission delays report on VTU V-C

The reportof the one-man commission to look into the allegations regarding thequalifications of the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) vice-chancellorDr H Maheshappa has not seen the day-light yet.
 The commission, headed by retiredJustice Abhay Gohil, was constituted in February this year with a duration ofsix months for investigation.
 The panel was formed following writpetition filed in the High Court against the varsity vice chancellor, however, tilldate there has been no report about findings.
 One of the allegations againstMaheshappa was that he made false claims of passing BE exam with a first classdegree while he had actually obtained a second class.
 Some other allegations include thenumber of PhD scholars and MTech students that he has guided, false informationon the number of technical papers published by him and the alleged claims aboutthe research projects, including DRDO projects.
 When contacted, an official from RajBhavan said that no report from the oneman inquiry commission has reached theGovernor’s office till date.
 However, the Higher Education Departmentis clueless about the panel’s report regarding the VC.
 “The oneman commission was appointed bythe Governor and the report about the same will be sent to governor.
 The Governor will then send it to thegovernment to take appropriate actions.
 The Department has not received anyinformation from the Raj Bhavan so far regarding this matter,” Siddaiah,Principal Secretary, Higher Education Departments said.
