Tickle your funny bones

N Omprakash’s latest comedy flick Dakota which was produced under Rockline productions is a remake of Priyadarshan’s Malamal Weekly.

This drama-entertainer which is filled with laughter also reflects upon villagers and their current state of affairs which one understands throughout the film.

Set against a village backdrop, Lachchaya (Doddanna) from Ramapura goes around the village with a lottery ticket which finally falls into the hands of Antony (Raju Thalikote) who wins the bumper prize of `1 crore.

Shocked by his own luck, Antony informs all his debtors and family members about winning the lottery.

However, he ends up dying with the ticket in his hand! The upheaval begins when Lachchaya followed by Mallana and later the entire village learn about the lottery ticket and Antony’s death.

What follows is a result of greed and people chasing money in the film.

One of the things to look forward to in Dakota Picture is the cast of the film that has comedy masters like Doddanna, Mukhya Mantri Chandru, Rockline Venkatesh and OmPrakash Rao who have some hilarious dialogues.

At the same time, the film showcases the disturbing truth about the life of these villagers.

Crisp supporting work from Mandip Rai, Malathi Sardeshpande, Raju Thalikote, Shashikumar justifies their roles altogether.

This film has Nikesha Patel playing the lead lady who looks pretty being the love interest of Rockline Venkatesh.

As usual, we see an overdose of Omprakash acting which can be forgiven.

Camerawork by Jagadish Wali and songs by Hamsalekha are well delivered with the right amount of energy and madness maintained throughout the film.

Verdict: This comedy flick remains a winner inspite of a few mishaps.

Film: Dakota Director: Omprakash Cast: Doddanna, Mukhya Mantri Chandru, Rockline Venkatesh, Nikesha Patel
