In an effort to make the members of Xaviers Association of Management Institutes(XAMI) stronger, the community started with a management meet named ‘Xavion’, which was inaugurated at Xaviers Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship(XIME) in the city.
The two-day fest held on November 23 and 24 saw major participation from XAMI colleges from all over the country.
“The basic idea behind Xavion was to make students of XAMI interact with each other. We thought if the directors of XAMI could meet once in a while, the students of this community should also have similar gatherings. XIME Bangalore is thus hosting the inaugural session of this fest,” said Professor J Philip, the President, Director of XIME.
Being a management fest, a lot of innovative events were conducted which ranged from human resources, marketing, operations and finance.
It was a platform for the B-school students to showcase their managerial abilities through healthy competitions.
Events like “Run of the mill” (ROM) wherein the participants were asked to come up with new products and designs were also held. They also had to deal with real-time crisis which a company generally faces.
All the case-studies given to the participants were made by the students of XIME, making it an unique event.
“The fest was well organised and this is a good start for Xavion. The way each of these competitions were conceptualised was worthwhile. Especially, Run of the Mills was the best event according to me because all the case studies were made by the students which was really innovative,” said Devina Kashyap, student of XISS, Ranchi who was also the winner of ROM.
While ‘Run of the mills’ stole the thunder on the first day of the fest, the main highlight of the second day was the ‘Business Quiz’.
It was conducted by Quizmaster Thejaswi Udupa who is also an active member of Karnataka Quiz Association (KQA).
He made the competition extraordinary with brain-wracking questions.
XIDAS (Jabalpur) bagged the first prize after a nail-biting competition among the eight groups.
However, St Joseph’s College won the “Overall Champions” title. The valedictory ceremony of this fest was graced by the presence of Bijou Kurien, President and CEO of Lifestyle at Reliance Retail Ltd.
The two-day fest saw the amalgamation of management students competing against each others to out-do the rest.
“The preparation took more than a month and it feels great to see all the plans getting executed to the best. We are elated with the success of the event,” said student Coordinator of XIME, Priyesh Tugnawat.
