Use photo ID cards to cast vote

Registered voters who do not have elector’s photo identity card (EPIC) can vote with alternative identification documents.

The Election Commission of India has directed the electors, who do not have EPIC, to produce any one of the following photo documents for establishing their identity before casting votes:

■  Authenticated photo voter’s slip

■ Passports

■ Driving licence

■  Income tax identity (PAN) cards

■  Service ID cards issued to employees by state/Central governments, public sector/undertakings or public ltd companies

■ Property documents

■  Pension document/freedom fighter ID card with photograph

■  Senior citizen cards bearing photographs of the holder of the card

■  Smart cards issued by RGI under a scheme of National Population Register.

■ Aadhaar card

■  Bank pass book, student identity card, ration card with photograph issued before March 31

■  SC/ST/OBC certificates, certificate of physically-challenged, NREGA job cards.

Overseas electors

Overseas electors who are registered in the electoral rolls, based on the particulars in their passport, shall be identified on the basis of their original passport only in the polling station, officials said. Electors in Bangalore who have not received their EPICs may collect it from any Bangalore One centres, irrespective of their residential area.
