CBI Files Chargesheet Against 2 Companies

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed chargesheets in two cases of alleged illegal export of iron ore from Belekeri port.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday filed chargesheets in two cases of alleged illegal export of iron ore from Belekeri port.

The first chargesheet pertains to the illegalities committed by Dream Logistics and the second one is related to the illegalities of ILC Industries.

The chargesheet names Kovoor Somashekhar, owner of ILC Industries and ‘risk transporters’ Swastik Nagaraj and Kharapudi Mahesh. The ILC Industries had allegedly exported 9.86 lakh MT of iron ore through Belekeri Port between January 2009 and May 2010 and a large quantity of iron ore was mined illegally in forest.

The Dream Logistics had permit for transportation and export of 2.23 lakh MT of iron ore from Belikeri port, but it allegedly exported 13.76 lakh MT, the agency claimed.  The CBI stated that additional chargesheet will be submitted in both the cases.
