SSLC Exams to Start 45 Minutes Early in 2014

The start time of the SSLC examination for 2014 has been advanced by 45 minutes.

The announcement came during the release of the schedule of SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations on Thursday.

The SSLC examinations to be held in March-April 2014 will therefore begin at 9.15 am instead of 10 am and end at 12 noon. The Higher Secondary Examinations will continue with the earlier timing of 10 am to 1.15 pm.

According to the Directorate of School Education the move may be replicated in the Higher Secondary examination from next year depending on the experience of the 10th standard students this year.

“The examination has been preponed to 9.15 am keeping in mind the weather conditions. Since the days are hotter at that time of the year, starting examinations earlier in the morning will suit students better. According to this year’s feedback, we will look at whether this can be replicated for the Higher Secondary Examination also,” said Director of Government Examinations K Devarajan.

The Higher Secondary Examination will begin on March 3 and go on till March 25. The examinations will begin with Language Paper 1 on March 3.

This will be followed by Language Paper 2 on March 5, English Paper 1 on March 6, English Paper 2 on 7, Physics and Economics on March 10, Commerce, Home Science and Geography on March 13, Nutrition and Dietetics, Microbiology, Mathematics, and Zoology on March 14, Chemistry and Accountancy on March 17, Biology, History, Botany and Business Maths on March 20, Political Science, Nursing (General Stream), Statistics and Theory of Vocational Subjects on March 24 and Communicative English, Indian Culture, Computer Science, Bio-Chemistry, Advanced Language and Typewriting in Tamil and English on March 25.
