A senior police officer said the family had complained of harassment from their neighbour Bylappa and Chandrika

Due to the alleged frequent harassment by their neighbour, a family of three attempted suicide by consuming poison at their home in Raveendra Nagar in Peenya on Saturday morning.  The family was alleged to have been threatened by one Byalappa, who had filed false complaints with the police against the victims.

Ramanna (55), and his two daughters Sashikala(22) and Sowmya(18), were rushed to a private hospital after they were found in an unconscious state by one of their neighbours.

The police said the incident took place at around 7.30 am. Ramanna’s wife, Pushpa’s heart ailment was aggravated due to the episode. She was admitted to a private hospital where she is making a recovery.

A senior police officer said the family had complained of harassment from their neighbours Bylappa and Chandrika, who were frequently quarrelling over trivial issues and harassing them.

The duo allegedly threatened Ramanna’s family that they would file more cases against them over an old rivalry.
