A group of four unidentified miscreants  barged into a house at Vinayaka Layout in Nagarbhavi on Saturday night and decamped with cash, gold and other valuables, worth `1 lakh in all, after threatening the family.

Prakash, a Central Silk Board Scientist who works in Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh,  stayed at the house with his wife Nirmala, son Harsha, a film actor, and daughter Swathi.

The miscreants assaulted them when they tried to raise an alarm. They also  locked them in the house before they escaped. After a while, the family members  managed to call the police.

According to police, the incident took place around 11.15 pm when the family was watching television. The gang threatened them with weapons and made them sit in a corner of the room. Prakash was forced to open the almirah, the police said.
