The management, staff members and students of Dr Vimala Convent Matriculation Higher Secondary School assembled at the auditorium of the school to observe World Aids Day recently.

An oratorical contest and a drawing competition were held on the theme of aiming for zero infection of AIDS. It was emphasised that it is wrong to discriminate against AIDS victims.

Three brigades were formed during the programme — Safety Brigade, Eco Club and the Service Society — to take charge of safe-guarding school furniture, planting tree saplings in the school yard and helping slow learners. A few teachers spontaneously came forward to guide the brigades to work efficiently.

Chairman M Muthu Kumar praised the participants and emphasised the necessity of an AIDS awareness campaign. Secretary of the school M Anadhi distributed prizes to the

winners. Principal Rose Mary proposed the vote of thanks.
