The Indian Railways organised a drawing competition to celebrate its 160 years. Out of 230 participants, 15 were selected for the preliminary round held at the Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School, Perambur, on November 17. G Nikitaa of Class 5 of Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav Senior Secondary School stood sixth in the competition. In the final round held on December 1 at Chennai Central railway station, three drawings were selected by an independent jury of two members from the Government Arts College. Here, Nikitaa came second and received the prize from Manjula Mishra, president of Southern Railway, Women’s Headquarters Organisation.
