A day after pro-Kannada activist Na Gopi, his wife and their two children committed suicide at their house in Nagawarapalya on Thursday, police are yet to ascertain the reasons that led them to take the extreme step.

Police were disappointed after examining footage of the CCTV camera installed at Gopi’s house as it had been switched off since December 11. “We saw the family engaging in daily chores but there were no conversations,” a senior police official said. Preliminary investigations revealed that a family dispute could have led to the suicide though Gopi mentioned financial difficulties in a letter left at the spot.

Gopi, a supporter of Vatal Nagaraj, leader of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha, allegedly ended his life with his wife Jayashri (38) while their children Dileep (17) and Sanchita (15) were found poisoned.
