City Express’ line-up for the busy season ahead

Of Masters and Heroes is a three-day art camp curated by Vidya Gnana Gouresan, who is based in Singapore. Until Dec 30, from 11 am to 7 pm at Galerie De’Arts, 11th floor, Barton Centre, 84 MG Road. Participating artists include A Viswam, N S Manoharan, M Jayakumar, C Dakshinamurthy and P Gnana.

Theatre

Adults are not allowed here at Ranga Shankara’s Little Cloud Story Telling Sessions. Holding children’s attention for an hour with stories in English, Hindi and Kannada told by Padmavathi Rao, B Jayashree, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Sundara Raj, Kamal Pruthi, Ameen Haque, Hetal Shah, Natasha, Anuja, Chetana and Shailaja,  animals, birds, castles, kings and queens will rule for the while. On Dec 21, 22, 28 and 29 at Ranga Shankara. 10 am onwards.

Circus

When did you last visit a circus? How about you recreate your memories of it. Rambo Circus starts its show in Bangalore on Dec 16 and goes on well into the new year onwards at Gollarahatti, Magadi road, Near Nice Road Toll. The two-hour, 10 min-show will have feats performed by folk artistes.

Between The Lines, which features Nandita Das, Divya Jagdale, and Subodh Maskara, is a contemporary telling of an affluent and educated couple’s struggle between modernity and the traditional world. On Dec 19 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, 16th Cross, G D Park Extension, 2nd Main Road, Malleswaram, at 7.30 pm.

Music

The Sufi music festival, Ruhaniyat, now in its 13th year is a must for enchanting music and quaint living traditions. Among those who will perform are Baithi dhamal and  Mystic drums - Siddhi Goma (Africa), Sufi Kalam and Mystic Songs - Kachra Khan and group (Rajasthan), Rumi-Emre meet Khusrau-Kabir, Latif Bolat and Whirling Dervishes (Turkey) with Madan Gopal Singh and Chaar Yaar (India), Theyyam - Ajeesh V and Group (Kerala) and Sufi Qawwali Sabari Brothers and Group (New Delhi). At Jaymahal Palace No.1, Jayamahal Road on Dec 21.

The Sontakke Music  Festival 2013 is a tribute to Dr R B Sontakke and Dr Mani  Sontakke, music educators of Hindustani vocal and  instrumental music. The Festival  will take off with a performance  by Sunaad led by Tara Kini  followed by the progressive electronic Jazz band Food featuring Thomas Stronen, Ian Bellamy and Prakash Sontakke. It’s all happening at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield on Dec 17, 8 pm onwards.

Vanny Bourne will sing to the heart with her pop music at St Joseph’s Boys School Auditorium, St. Joseph’s Boys School, 27, Museum Road on Dec 20 at 7 pm.
