Shree Motilal Kanhaiyalal Fomra Institute of Technology (SMK FIT), Chennai, is organising Techno Expo ‘13, a five-day science and engineering exhibition from January 9, on its college campus in Kelambakkam. The college invites higher secondary students from all schools and polytechnic institutes in Chennai to visit the exhibition.

Techo Expo ‘13 is organised with a dual objective of providing a platform for students to exhibit their creativity and innovation through their engineering talent and introducing young school students to the world of engineering and providing them with an exposure that will help them shape their career. Over 10,000 students from over 50 institutions (schools and polytechnics) are expected to visit the various stalls exhibiting about 500 projects on the theme ‘Engineering Shaping our Past, Present and Future’. Students from various engineering departments including Bio-medical, CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, and Humanities and Sciences will display their work.

School students will be encouraged to participate in a techno quiz, organised by the management students of SMK FIT. The first two days will be the preliminary quiz rounds and the winners will battle against each other on January 11 to win attractive cash awards and the title of ‘Techno Champ 13’.

“The response in the previous year was so overwhelming from participating schools and students that we are determined to make Techo Expo an annual property of SMK Fomra Institute of Technology,” says Dr R Raja, Principal, SMK Fomra Institute of Technology.
