Velammal Vidhyashram students bagged several prizes in different categories in the first district-level Children’s Chess Tournament 2013 held at Ayappakkam last week.
S Sharvani of Class 3 from BT wing U/8 category secured the third place while Shyam Kumar M of Class 5 from BT wing U/10 secured second place.
Last week, K Yogesh of Class 8 from NG wing U/14 got the first prize with the gold medal in Taekwondo Tournament held at Kumbakonam and K Deepak Kumar of Class 9 NG wing U/14 stood third. K Yogesh has been selected for the CBSE National Meet, which will take place at the Meridian School in Hyderabad.
