SSLC results on phone for free

Students appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations can get their results for free on cell phones this year.

Students appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations can get their results for free on cell phones this year.

The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) will SMS the results to mobile numbers provided to the exam forms.

“We have already directed the headmasters of all schools to mention the mobile numbers of parents in the examination registration forms.”

“We will save the mobile numbers along with register numbers and using that data we will send the results,” said a senior official of KSEEB.

However, the board will SMS the results to only those who have passed.

“There are cases where some students who initially fail but pass during the revaluation. So, we have decided not to update the results of those who fail,” the official added.

At present, the students can still get their results on phone but they have to pay for it.

“What we are introducing is a free service. Students do not need to pay and the board will bear the expenses,” said the senior official.

The board is scouting for some agencies who have SMS gateway services.

Every year, over eight lakh students appear for the SSLC exams.

“We collect the exam fee from students. It is their right to know the results without spending anything. So we have decided to provide results on mobiles within a few minutes of the declaration of it,” the official said.

Meanwhile, officials also clarified that if students do not get their results on their  phones it will not mean that they have failed.

“Sometimes there are network issues. So we advise students to confirm their results when it is announced at schools the next morning,” the official said.
