Rs 2.25 crore to improve slums in Pulikeshinagar

Mayor B S Sathyanarayana announced a sum of Rs 2.25 crore to develop slums in four wards in Pulikeshinagar on Friday.

A BBMP release stated that the Mayor and his team visited Devarjeevanahalli, S K Garden, Kushalnagar and Muneshwaranagar wards in Pulikeshinagar constituency and announced development of slums in these wards. They inspected various works on DJ Halli Main Road and Modi Road. The Mayor also announced Rs 25 lakh for underground drain works and `50 lakh for storm water drain works in the area.

Later, they visited TP Molla slum and directed the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board and BWSSB officials to provide basic amenities for residents. Sathyanarayana also announced Rs 25 lakh for drainage works and Rs 50 lakh for a concrete road in S K Garden. The Mayor took BBMP officials to task on seeing the Thangamalai graveyard filthy. “Despite my directive to keep all graveyards clean, you (officials) failed to do so,” he said.

He also directed officials to conduct mass cleaning drives on October 19 and keep these wards clean.

The Mayor announced Rs 25 lakh for drainage works, Rs 25 lakh for a concrete road and an additional Rs 25 lakh for drinking water in  Kushalnagar ward slum. He also announced Rs 25 lakh for UGD and Rs 25 lakh for concrete roads in slums in Muneshwaranagar ward.

Pulikeshinagar MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy proposed to widen Dinnur Main Road and the Mayor directed the zonal commissioner to prepare an action plan for the same, the release added.
