Five rowdies held for plotting to murder rival gang members

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Tuesday arrested a gang of five rowdies, who had allegedly planned to murder their opponent gang members. Police said a pistol, four live bullets and other lethal weapons were recovered.

The arrested are Pavan alias Pradeep, 25, of VV Puram, Bharani Kumar, 32, of Chikkalasandra, Venkatesh alias Shavige, 27, of Katriguppe, Mohan Kumar alias Moni, 22 and Abhishek alias Abhi, 24, of Kempegowda Nagar.

The police said that the accused were allegedly waiting at K G Nagar to attack and kill their opponent gang members. Based on a tip off, the police swung into action and arrested them. Pavan, who was booked under history-sheeter list in Chennammana Kere Achkattu police station limits was involved in a murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, assault and eight attempt to dacoity cases in various police stations while, other accused are involved in attempt to murder, assault, robbery and other cases, the police said.

Cop Ends Life

A police constable attached to KSRP 4th battalion ended his life at his residence in Rajgopalnagar limits on Tuesday.

The deceased G V Venkataramaiah (45), a resident of 9th Cross, Hegganahalli, Maruthinagar, was attached to the KSRP headquarters in Koramangala. According to police, the incident took place between 9.30 pm on Monday and 7.30 am on Tuesday. Official sources maintained that he was fine and they did have any clue about why he ended his life. He left no suicide note.

Venkataramaiah hanged himself with a saree when no one was at home. His wife was attending the funeral of a relative in Huliyurdurga and his three sons had gone to stay at with a relative after dinner on Monday. The incident came to light when one of his sons returned home on Tuesday morning. Police are investigating.
