Martyr cadre remembered amidst celebrations on foundation day

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday garlanded the statue of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran and hoisted the party flag at the AIADMK headquarters here on the occasion of the 42nd Foundation Day of the AIADMK. 

The Chief Minister released a special souvenir to mark the occasion and the first copy was received by Industries Minister P Thangamani.  Following this the AIADMK supremo distributed sweets to the party cadre and functionaries. 

The Chief Minister presented cheques of `1 lakh each to the families of 37 persons who were killed by political opponents and those who died in road accidents while they were engaged in party work. From her Poes Garden residence to the party headquarters, AIADMK cadre gave a rousing reception to their leader.  AIADMK’s presidium chairman E Madhusudanan, State ministers, leaders of various wings of the party and other functionaries gathered at the headquarters.
