In a daring crime, two miscreants robbed a jeweller right outside his residence near Ramachandrapuram Main Road in Vidyaranyapuram on Sunday night.

Javalilal Pawar (33), the owner of Pooja Jewellers located on Dodda Bommasandra on Ramachandrapuram Main Road, has lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to police, the thieves followed Pawar home on a black Karishma bike after he closed his shop for the night. They whipped out a revolver and asked him to hand over all the jewels he had brought home with him from his shop. Pawar refused and this led to an argument, and one of the men fired in the air. A frightened Pawar handed over the bag to the duo. There was no gold or other valuable articles in the bag, except for a laptop.

Though the incident happened outside his residence, none of Pawar’s family members or neighbours heard or saw anything.

The police conducted a spot inspection and recovered a cartridge.

In his complaint Pawar stated that the thieves were aged between 24 and 25 and spoke Hindi. One of them was dark-skinned, while the other was fair, the complaint stated.

Police have lodged a complaint under IPC Section 392 read with 25, 27 paragraphs and they have also booked a case under the Arms Act.
