Tension prevailed at Basaveshwara Circle near Vidhana Soudha when members of the Youth Congress (YC) attempted to stage a protest without official permission on Wednesday. Police prevented them from staging a protest and resorted to lathi-charge to disperse them.
The flash protest was organised to counter a BJP rally demanding the sacking of Minister Santosh Lad. Some YC members were briefly detained. Arguments between the protesters and police led to panic among motorists.
