Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the family of Manna Dey in Kalyannagar on Friday afternoon, a day after the legendary singer passed away. He expressed his condolences saying, “He was a man great in his work. There cannot be another like him.”
Sumita Dey, younger daughter of Manna Dey, spoke to Express and said she was content with the Karnataka government’s response. She added she did not want to talk about West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s request for the body to be brought to Kolkata.
When asked about the absence of most State leaders from Dey’s funeral, the CM said, “I had heard his songs but came to know that he was living in Bangalore only on Thursday. I was in a meeting till 3 pm. When I was done, I found that his last rites had been completed.”
