CBI Probe Sought

State president of Loksatta Party, Ashwin Mahesh, on Tuesday demanded CBI inquiry into the murder of a 17-year-old girl in Ujire.

“Even after one year, after two rounds of enquiry, the police have not been able to trace the culprits. The State government should hand over the case to CBI,” he during a press conference.

He said according to data given out by Belthangady police station, there have been 472 unnatural deaths, rapes, murders and other such incidents in and around Ujire, Nethravathi river and Dharmasthala from 2001 to 2011.

He demanded an explanation from the state government on the issue.
