BANGALORE: While Upendra is yet to comment on his heroines in Uppi 2, it seems Russian model-turned-actress Kristina Akheeva is the filmmakers' discovery for the role. Upendra, who is racking his brain to choose the perfect actress to star opposite him, says she is only one among the many choices that they have for the character. "We are yet to finalise the lead actress for the film. I am not aware of what is being written about the heroines of my film, as I am busy preparing for the shoot. I will iron out the details in three to four days,  after which I will make a formal announcement,” he says. With regard to the casting of another heroine in the film, Uppi says, “Let’s see if there will be a heroine in my movie first,” and further adds, “They said Vidya Balan was the chosen one, but it was false. I want everybody to wait with patience.”

However, the producer of the film Priyanka Upendra reveals to us that Kristina is the one.

“Upendra has selected her and we are yet to make the official announcement. We wanted a new flavour in the film and were looking for a unique looking girl for the role. She somewhere fits the bill. We will confirm the news only after the photoshoot is done,” she says.

Kristina Akheeva started her career with Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 that released in 2013. She has made her presence in the Telugu industry in the Aadi-starrer Gaalipatam. If everything goes well, Kristina will mark her Sandalwood debut with Uppi 2.
