Anjali to pair with Power Star

Actress Anjali has been roped in as the female lead opposite Puneeth Rajkumar in the upcoming film Dheera Rana Vikrama directed by Pavan Wadeyar. Puneeth will have two heroines in the film and Rachita Ram has already been selected for the other role. The makers who were looking to cast the perfect fit for the role finally zeroed in on Anjali. Confirming the news, Pavan Wadeyar says, “What is unique about Anjali is that she can pull of any kind of role with ease. I was blown away by her acting in Engaeyum Eppothum. When I was looking for the right actor, Anjali came to my mind and we approached her.”

The actress, who is busy with Tamil and Telugu films, was more than excited about the script and happy to work in Kannada opposite Puneeth Rajkumar.

Anjali is no stranger to Sandalwood, as she made her mark in the film Honganasu opposite Nenapirali Prem. She says, “This project definitely came as a surprise to me. I got it at a point when I had the right dates to give. A big production house, a good script and Power Star were all great reasons to sign the film. I agreed to take it up after Pavan gave me a gist of my role and the film as a whole. It is exciting to be back in Kannada films again.”

The busy bee is currently on the sets of Telugu film Geethanjali, as she awaits the release of her Tamil film Madha Gaja Raja. Throwing more light on her current project Geethanjali, Anjali says it is a heroine-centric script, a role she is excited to play for the first time. “I didn’t choose this subject just to fall into the bandwagon. Heroine-centric films are a good trend. But the main reason I took up Geethanjali was for its content, which is unusual. Today, my audience like me because I have been a part of some really good scripts and they would always like to see me in films which do not fall in the regular category. That is why I chose Dheera... ,because I felt it was an unusual script.”
