Man Arrested for Raping Neighbour in Lingarajapuram

BANGALORE: A man was arrested by Banaswadi police for allegedly raping his neighbour in Lingarajpuram on Tuesday.

Police sources said the accused confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The 21-year-old victim was at home when Kuaresh (28), who worked as a labour, entered her house on Wednesday afternoon and allegedly raped her.

The incident came to light when the victim’s mother returned home after work and found her lying on the floor. When taken to a hospital, the doctors informed the parents that she was raped. The girl told her parents that their neighbour was the culprit.

The parents registered a complaint at Banaswadi police station. The police arrested the accused from his residence.

Newly-wed Ends Life

Janaki (19), a newly-married woman, committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Kempegowda Nagar.

The reason for her taking the extreme step is not known. According to police, Janaki married Ravi, an auto driver, six months ago. The couple lived next to Ravi’s parents house.

On Wednesday morning, Ravi headed out to a barber shop. When he returned home, he found Janaki hanging from the ceiling. The KG Nagar police have registered a case.

Man Dies in Road Mishap

A 56-year-old man died after he lost control over his motorbike and rammed into a lorry on Whitefield main road in KR Puram traffic police limits on Tuesday.

According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Hussain Syed, a resident of Dargah Mohalla near KR Puram railway station.

Syed was returning from work when the accident occurred. Police said he suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Actress in Police Custody

Bangalore: Small-time actress Nayana Krishna, who was arrested by the CCB police in a blackmail and extortion case, has been remanded in police custody for 10 days. Nayana was produced before the first Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate in Koramangala. The CCB police sought her custody till October 18 for further interrogation. She was arrested after a complaint was filed by a doctor accusing her of luring him into honeytrap and then attempting to blackmail him. She has been charged under IPC sections 389 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
