BANGALORE: Founder and managing director of Shrushti Global Medicare and Research Foundation K T Gurumurthy was arrested and taken into police custody on Sunday for allegedly cheating a couple.
Nandini Layout police said Gurumurthy had promised a childless couple a baby through surrogacy and gave them some other person’ baby. On police’ request, the magistrate of Seventh Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court remanded Gurumurthy to police custody for three days for interrogation.
When Gurumurthy came out from the judge’s residence, he tried to attack a private news channel’s crew and abused them. The police managed to take him away.
The police said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused has cheated several couples in a similar way. “We are verifying the documents at his hospital and other branches,” the police said.
