BANGALORE: As many as 145 people have suffered eye injuries this Diwali season in the city. On Friday evening alone, 58 such cases were reported.
Doctors however felt that the number of eye injury cases has come down this year. They attributed this to increased awareness and also the rain playing a dampener.
However, hospital authorities are leaving nothing to chance and have asked their staff to be prepared.
Minto Eye Hospital has so far had 35 cases while Narayana Nethralaya has treated 38 people with eye injuries of which four are said to be major.
Shekhar Nethralaya in J P Nagar received 21 cases, Vasan Eye Care 18, Shankara Eye Hospital 12, Nethradhama eight, Modi Eye Hospital six, Rangalakshmi Eye Hospital four and Samprathi Eye Hospital, three cases.
