BANGALORE: A 30-year-old rowdy-sheeter, working as an autorickshaw driver, was hacked to death in full public view in the city on Thursday.

Nagaraj, a resident of Shivanahalli, had begun driving an auto after being released from jail four months ago. On Thursday, two of his associates invited him to Rajagopal Nagar for a drink. They went to Venkatadri Bar in Laggere around 5 pm.

Soon, four men barged into the bar and dragged Nagaraj outside. They attacked him with machetes and knives. Nagaraj attempted to escape but he was chased down. The attackers managed to flee. The police have detained the two men with whom Nagaraj had come to the bar.

“Nagaraj may have been killed over some old rivalry,” said T R Suresh, DCP (North East).
