Accident Derails Aspiring Engineer's Dream

BENGALURU:Twenty-six year old Ayesha Khan, who was studying MTech in a city college, wanted to settle down in Dubai. Her father M Z Khan, an officer with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and other members in her family were making preparations for her engagement. Friday morning’s train accident derailed all their plans.

Waiting outside a mortuary at Victoria Hospital in the city to collect his daughter’s body after autopsy, Khan, who seemed to be composed even in the face of the worst disaster said, “We had planned to buy many things for her engagement. Since my would-be son-in-law is working in Dubai, my daughter was to join him after the wedding.”

On Friday, before leaving their home in Bharatinagar in Yelahanka, she had asked her father to take care of the pet cat at home. “On Friday morning before leaving home she gave bath to the cat and told me to take care of it,” he said.

Ayesha, her grandmother Naseem Khan and aunt Farah Khan were going to Ooty on a holiday and were to return on Monday. Naseem and Ayesha died in the accident while Farah Khan had a narrow escape.
