BANGALORE:Online hackers are using the occasion of Valentine’s Day to trap people through phishing and other hacking methods.

According to network security firm Trend Micro, India ranks second after the US in the number of spam emails sent out with Valentine’s Day theme. In a report, the company reported that cyber criminals are attacking gullible internet users on many fronts this year.

“Whether it is tricking them into clicking on fake ads found on social media posts or opening malicious email attachments, these lures can lead to a number of online risks,” the report said.

Last-minute shoppers seem to be the most targeted while those looking for a place to party or hunting online for people to meet are also in the crosshairs of the hackers.
