BENGALURU:The High Court on Monday issued notice to the state government as well as four nominated MLCs over the grounds of their selection to the Legislative Council.
Former MP P Kodandaramaiah challenged the nomination of V S Ugrappa, Ivan D’Souza, Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi and K Abdul Jabbar, contending that their selection to the Council goes against Article 171(5) of the Constitution.
“Nominations should be made from the fields of art, culture, science, social service and the likes, based on their special knowledge in the fields. But these nominations were made against the provision,” Kodandaramaiah said.
